FAQs
about The Hungry Heart Program
I feel like I have tried everything out there and nothing has worked before. Why is this going to be any different?
By the time many of our clients have reached The Hungry Heart, they feel like they have tried everything and they’ve had it.
The same behaviors that drive us to be successful in parts of our personal and professional life also lead us to having problems with food. Why? When there is a problem we will give 150% to resolve it. If we don’t know how to fix it and don’t accept that we can’t resolve it on our own, we feel frustrated and stuck. When we feel stuck, we will often use food to temporarily block out the pain and frustration of not knowing how to fix the situation.
As long as we need food to help us deal with what is emotionally going on in our lives, it doesn’t matter what diet or program we try because eventually we will go back to the food. We have to learn to process our feelings and emotions so we don’t turn to food and use it as a tool to deal with what is going on in our lives.
My daughter/son has issues with food. Would the program be effective for a teenager?
If your daughter or son is open to working through their issues with food, then yes, this program would be beneficial. Teenagers and young adults do well on this program because they are typically open to learning and taking in new information and can make changes easily.
How is The Hungry Heart Program different than others?
This is a caring approach to ending the battle with food. Our process takes it one step at a time allowing you to make slow steady changes in your thinking process and work through the core issues of what is really going on. This will change how you respond in life thus changing what shows up in your life and ultimately, changing your relationship with food. You will be able to gain back the quality of your life, reach a place of self-acceptance and inner peace, and feel centered, balanced, and truly focused. It’s time to end the game playing for good!
Will I lose weight? How long will it take to lose weight?
If you were no longer overeating or binging, do you think you would lose weight? If you were making healthy food choices naturally, do you think your body would let go of excess body fat? If the answer is yes to both of these questions, then you can finally lose weight naturally.
As we make changes in our thinking process, we can change how we respond in life, which leads to changes in how we approach food. Making permanent lifestyle changes sets us up to lose weight naturally. The process works.
I'm not sure I have even an hour or two a week to dedicate to this program.
We take care of our family, our work, our friends and somehow we are always last on our own list. We have a tendency to put 150% towards everyone and everything and only if there is any time or any energy left, we will fit in time for our needs.
Somewhere along the line, we picked up the message that everyone and everything takes priority over us—that’s why we end up turning to the food. It is our way of taking care of ourselves. We have to learn to start prioritizing and meeting our personal needs. We need to take care of the person who takes care of everyone else.
What will I be learning in the program?
You will learn how to eat when you are hungry, stop when you are full, and deal with your emotions completely independently. You will learn how to make healthy food choices because you choose to–not because you are supposed to.
You will learn how to take care of yourself, meet your needs, and be your own best friend, so you can stop the self sabotage and internal struggle and come to peace with who you are. You will gain the skills to break out of the diet/binge cycle so you can lose weight naturally and learn to feel better about yourself.
So what exactly is hypnosis?
Hypnotherapy is an “awake” state, where the physical body is relaxed and the mind is mentally alert. When the conscious mind is relaxed, the subconscious mind can become open to suggestions. Hypnotherapy is similar to guided visualization, and allows us to become consumed in the experience and sensations of our imagination and ideas. If we can perceive it, we can achieve it.
Hypnotherapy is a tool that is used to rid us of inhibitions or behaviors that may be holding us back in life.
We are always in complete control. We cannot be made to do or say anything outside of our belief system or without our participation and agreement.
How does one get into a hypnotic relaxed state with The Hungry Heart Program?
The hypnotherapist voice helps you to relax, as you listen to the calming and soothing background sounds on the audio recording. Once relaxed, you are guided through a series of images. The imagery and the suggestions are always positive.
Deann W.“I have had a positive experience with The Hungry Heart! It’s really made me analyze my relationship with food, and think about what I’m doing when I’m eating. My affirmations are really helping me ‘eat when I’m hungry and stop when I’m full.’ I feel as though I’m making slow, but steady (and lifelong) changes in my habits and my body!”
Joan B.“Going into this program, I don’t think I really understood that I was an emotional eater. The program really helped me identify thoughts, beliefs, and actions I was taking that needed to be addressed and worked through. I now feel like I have the knowledge and tools I need to lead a happy and healthy life!”
Jennifer R.“I am definitely noticing a positive shift. The changing in my thinking came first but now I am noticing changes in my behavior as well. As a cognitive therapist, this program was a great reminder for me and gave me the jumpstart I needed. I have learned some new things, too. I have been especially impacted by the never dieting again commitment, it was freeing and I will continue on this path.”
